    • Young
      • TASK 5: Use Photoshop to restore the arena
      • TASK 6: Use Photoshop to put a new facade on the arena
    • Common tasks
      • Document our project as it evolves

It is difficult to precisely break down and divide the tasks for the project between us. We plan to do a great deal of the project together. Only one person at a time can of "drive," performing the actual manipulations in Photoshop or other software, but we will all be present, so that we can benefit from bouncing our ideas off of each other in real-time and thus so that each part of our project and the final product can be the result of all of our creative efforts.

  • A Time line
    • June 29: We have chosen a building to restore: the bullfighting arena here in Barcelona. We will begin to experiment with the photos we have taken by this point.
    • July 5: By this point, we will have attempted to either restore the arena to a newer-looking condition, or we will have covered it in a facade such that it appears to have been designed by some other architect.
    • July 11: By this point, we plan to have completed the restoration image of the arena such that it looks more or less believable. Alternatively or additionally, we will have an image of what the arena might look if it had been designed by a different architect.
    • July 12: We will present our results and complete the final report.

  • Problems to DATE
    • We attempted to create an image of the entire arena by using autostitch to stitch together several images taken while walking along the street parallel to the face of the arena we plan to manipulate. Unfortunately, the stichted image does not look great. We will probably attempt to create another parorama by taking the pictures in a different way (i.e. standing in one spot and rotating), which will hopefully provide better results. We might, instead, decide to focus on one piece of the building, restoring/altering that one piece by drawing on all the other parts of the building. The latter may be the best solution, as it is apparent at present that acquiring a decent image of the entire arena will be difficult.
    • It can be difficult to create a new facade on the building that looks realistic, but we believe spending enough time manipulating the images will give us a decent final result

  • Results and or images used to date (use small images please!)

Our first attempt at a panorama of the building; there are visible problems, but this image shows the possibilities for restoration. Note the varying conditions of the blue and white domes ornamenting the arena, for example; those could be restored to have the same newer appearance, as could the tile and brick.

Below is experimentation with one of the images taken. The image is from one of the more weathered "egg" on a corner. In photoshop, we restored many aspects of the building. Process is locally highlighted.
