Update 1 for Group 4 (Schwartz/Hunt)

Group Members : Jonathan Schwartz, Joshua Hunt

UPDATE:

We have decided to extend our project somewhat. In keeping with our original idea of having the same person moving throughout a scene, we will still have this idea, yet now we will have our people (Jon and Josh) moving throughout one scene and into another separate scene all in one wide panoramic image. The two settings for our scenes will be the roof/pool area of Onix and the Beach/Sea... Basically it will be transition from pool to sea. We will do this in multiple ways. For scenes such as the pool, we will fix the camera steady and take a series of photos as we approach the pool, jump in the pool, swim across the pool, and climb out of the pool. We will then overlay these images using a combination of photoshop and autostitch, so that a resulting image would have all of the actions together. To transition into the next scene we will then rotate the camera from the original fixed position in order to construct a panorama, having the subject(s) moving again as in our Mis Van Der Rohe example. At some point we will strategically have something blocking the camera's view of the backround for a short instance (perhaps the subject themself) and we will use that to have a seamless transition into the beach scene. In other words, if the subject is stepping forward with one leg out, his back leg would be on the pool deck, and his front leg landing in the sand. From there our panorama would continue as on the roof, with another special scene (like the pool scene) at the end, probably of the ocean, creating a sort of balance in the overall wide image: Pool to Sea.

just as a note, we are roommates/friends and are working collaborativly together on all aspects of this project. :) But here is a general idea of tasks...
  • Roles of Different team-mates
    • SCHWARTZ
      • TASK 1: Previsualization/Strategizing for initial Pass at source Photography (collaborative; brainstorming)
      • TASK 2: Photography: I am going to be photographing Josh throughout the scene we have chosen, and then passing the camera to him without moving positions so that I can enter the scene for our future stitching effect. This will be done at the beach and at the pool.
      • TASK 3: Photoshop/Autostitch for scene at the Pool (We are still testing out the best ways to do this)
      • TASK 4: Photoshopping of my stitched/composited image of the pool scene with Josh's stitched/composited image from the beach scene. (collaborative)
    • HUNT
      • TASK 1:Previsualization/Strategizing for initial Pass at source Photography (collaborative; brainstorming)
      • TASK 2:After Being photographed by Jon, I will take over the camera from its fixed position and reshoot the scene I had just been in, with Jon moving throughout. This will be done at the beach and at the pool.
      • TASK 3: Photoshop/Autostitch for scene at the Beach
      • TASK 4: Photoshopping of my stitched/composited image of the beach scene with Jon's stitched/composited image from the pool scene. (collaborative)

  • A Time line
    • June 29: Progress so far showing some of the images we've taken so far, and some of the progress on compositing the images togetherUploaded Image: check.gif–July 5: Will show progress on the two individual scenes we are creating
    • July 10: Will show progress on combining together the two individual scenes which by this point will be done.

  • Problems to DATE
    • We are running into problems of ghosting with autostitch when there is improper overlap in images when the subject is in effect to close to himself in the new image. We are testing out ways to resolve this using selective cropping and then restitching in autostitch.

  • Some test images of different elements of what will be the overall single image
Some attempts at the blend of the scene transition. In one we used an effect of the sand being brushed away when the right foot steps down, on the other we left the entire tile that the right foot is stepping on carry into the beach scene.
