Current Status

Acquired an RFID reader and built a interface to read tag data. Since HP badge 4 was not available we have purchased a Nintendo Power Glove to track the users hand.

Hardware Requirements
Texas Instruments 6000 series reader and tags
  • mounted on user; reads tags in environment which are mounted on objects such as the counter, containers, utensils, ingredients, etc.

Nintendo Power Glove
  • To track the position and orientation of the users hand over the counter

HP Badge4 System
  • reads input from card reader
  • mounted on wrist
  • 3-axis accelerometer provides movement information
  • wireless connectivity to transmit to "server"
    • may be able to do all processing on board

The aim of our project (Counter Activity) is to track user interaction on a countertop using RFID. We chose the cooking application because similar work is already being done in the Aware Home (Cooks collage).
