Team OTIB OS Update The Second

Code Compeleted

Task Description
Edge detection from scratch using kernels, not OpenCV's built-in
Hue Detection and alteration (inc. mask generation) e.g. that effect in Sin City where the red's are brightened but the rest is black and white and all that jazz
Motion Detection Same state as last update, will be modified for movie, see below

Storyboard Sketches

Descriptions are at the end in a table (some scene numbers are skipped due to cutbacks in budget).

Scene Description Effects
1 Alarm is beeping, the screen is black, Goofus & Gallant (title rename pending) displayed Only stuff from After Effects and/or Premiere
2 Gallant's Eyes open and the world is blurry Blur on the scene (either AE or through our code, this is trivial)
3 Eyes fully open to a blurry a ceiling See 2
4 Camera rotates from 3 to 4, the world is blurry, camera steadies and the world stays blurry but the alarm clock is crisp Blurred world, alarm clock is not blurred (trivial, can be done in After Effects or our code since the camera is steady at that point)
7 Goofus hits the snooze None
8 Gallant Shaves (he's not really going to be smiling) The shaving cream is accented, much like the bandages in Sin City, the rest of the scene is black and white (handled by our code, already complete)
9 Drowsy Goofus gets up to hit the snooze again (yes, the same alarm clock, but its in a different position) "Reverse Motion Trails", using the Motion Detection algorithm, instead of throwing away old frames, they will be overlayed and transparencied every few frames to create the "feeling" of trailed motion. Goofus will be opaque while in the bed and opaque when hitting the snooze, the rest of the time, he will be transparent. Automagically done to the moving layer by our code, trivial changes to not throw away frames and do a fancy overlay.
10 Gallant has a swig of coffee The world "fades" from black and white to color (automatic by code)
11 Gallant heads off to class, has another swig of coffee The world's edges now glow due to the hightened senses caused by the caffeine
12 Goofus hits the snooze again (this time the alarm clock is outside the room and the door is open, the camera sits on Goofus' bed post) Instead of a motion trail, the moving areas will have an effect applied to them that is not applied to the background. This is currently undecided (depends on how it looks, bg color, goofus black and white or goofus black and white, bg color). Completely automated by code (already implemented, with touchups TODO depending on how it looks)
13 Gallant walks into the classroom, only to find that class has been cancelled World fades back to black and white (our code)
14 Fade to and show Credits (short) After Effects or Premiere only
15 Goofus hits the snooze again (he didnt get up for class) None (though this is still under heated debate)
24 Instant Cut after the snooze is hit None

Moral

Our goal is to show the world that Gallant is annoying and pretentious. We want to have Goofus win for once, since Goofus always seems to get the short straw.

Cast

L33t BS'er and Camera Man: Jose Caban
Gallant: Vladimir Urazov
Goofus: Andrew Knight, in the role he was born to play
