G2-Update3
The Effect
The final video will have a person walking into a scene and then using his hands to create fluid motion in the scene. After the person leaves, the scene keeps swirling and then stops, showing a completely different view.
Progress since Update 2:
1. Fluid Solver NEEDS TWEAKING
- Fluid Solver code completed for use in project.
- Code reduced to only essential fluid procedures.
- Gauss-Seidel pressure projection method replaced with more effective conjugate gradient solver.
- Addition of bitmap image loading into system.
- Addition of bitmap frame writing completed.
- Write image to disk each frame of the fluid simulation.
- Create vector motion input from file (a kind of vector field script reader for new and different motions at different points in time)
2. Locations and Footage DONE
- Locations mapped out for final production.
- Photos taken of site.
- Video footage shot of site from various angles.
- motion footage with actor.
- actor approaching scene.
3. Motion Capture DONE
- Will do by hand based on actor's hand movements
4. Image Morphing NEEDS TWEAKING
- Use software to merge two videos together to create seemless image transitions
5. Problems
- Scrapped HD footage (too much overhead) and reshot with normal DV using more sunlight to get the color we want for the background
- Want to segment out the rail into the actor's layer to create a nicer effect
- Image morphing software we have found doesn't produce very good animations
- Video morphing software does more of a fade than a morph
