What is the Graduate Student Committee?
The Graduate Student Committee is the body of students that represents student interests on CoC committees (such as faculty recruiting, space planning, etc.) and who coordinate special events (like Grad Teas, informative and entertaining Seminars) that make the College of Computing the great place it is. Our formal "mission":
- To represent the rights and interests of CoC graduate students at the College and Institute level.
- To improve the Ph.D. and M.S. programs in the College of Computing for present and future students.
- To foster a sense of pride and community among the students, faculty and staff of the CoC.
We hold meetings on a monthly basis (2001-2002 academic year meeting time to be decided). Anyone (students and faculty) is welcome to attend. The meetings provide us with an opportunity to get together and exchange and act on information from the representatives on all of the committees, and to plan future events and goals. It is also an opportunity for students to directly communicate to us when there are problems they encounter as a graduate student.
GSC Members
While in the past students may have been elected to posts, we currently broadcast open slots and bring all interested parties together to figure out the best fit for the position. In many cases, if you are extremely interested in assuming a position that is already filled, it is possible (and often welcomed) to have more than student representative.
